Sampling, Casting and 3D Imaging

Researchers wishing to sample, cast, or perform 3D imaging on an object from the Department of Anthropology (including staff) must complete a Sampling, Casting, and 3D Imaging Request Form, and submit it to the Department along with a formal proposal outlining the project. Sampling and analysis proposals must describe the research methodology, sampling or casting procedure, and expected analytical results.

Destructive sampling and reproduction (e.g., casting and 3D imaging) requests from Native North American collections should also show evidence of tribal consultation for the proposed sampling and research to be considered for approval. We welcome a brief statement summarizing any tribal consultation that was performed for this request.
